Karen Perry-Weinstat, founder of Event Journal, Inc., is a marketing and fundraising professional who created the first web-based digital ad journal for fundraising events. Founded in 2002, Event Journal offered the first alternative to the tired printed ad journal (also known as a program or ad book) with its web-based digital journal system. The “e-journal” is now widely embraced in the fundraising sector, and services have expanded to include a variety of other marketing supports for nonprofits of all sizes.
As a media director at Saatchi & Saatchi and other top NYC advertising agencies, Karen worked on Fortune 100 accounts such as Colgate-Palmolive and General Mills. She added to her media and marketing portfolio with positions in publishing and broadcast television. Upon receiving her CSW, Karen worked at nonprofits including the Fresh Air Fund and the Legal Services Corporation. Her extensive fundraising knowledge developed over years as a board and committee member for local and national nonprofits and participation in many conferences and workshops.
Karen serves on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Long Island and is a member of Women in Development, the Nonprofit Technology Network , the Nonprofit Resource Group and The Alternative Board. She is a founding member of the 501(c)3 organization, the Foundation for Sight and Sound, and an active mentor with the Moxxie Mentoring Foundation. Karen was recognized as a top female CEO by SmartCEO at its 2016 Long Island Brava Awards. She has been featured in Newsday’s “Executive Suite” and was awarded the “Top Fifty Around 50” by Long Island Business News.
Karen earned her undergraduate degree in Communications from the Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University in New York.
Director of Client Services
William (Bill) Frank is a consummate client services professional with nearly 20 years of related experience. He’s been responsible for project management, product development, training, technical support and coordination of client services in companies serving the advertising community. Past clients have included top advertising agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi, Grey, JWT and Young & Rubicam.
Frank joined Event Journal, Inc. in 2012. He has upgraded systems and enhanced client satisfaction for its growing base of clients across the country.
William Frank holds both B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from the State University of Stony Brook and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. He is a published poet and certified as a CompTia A+ specialist.
Laura M. Miller
Director of Marketing & Business Development
Laura Miller joined Event Journal in 2015, bringing with her an extensive background in creative marketing, digital media and copywriting. Her experience was garnered from positions at several New York-based media organizations, including Young & Rubicam, Time-Warner and Gannett. Her background in non-profit event planning and execution developed from her work with several Jewish philanthropic organizations, both as a professional and volunteer. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo.
Marisa Pollack Kerby
Director of Production and Technology
Marisa Pollack Kerby is a talented and versatile multi-media and graphics specialist. She joined the company as Production Manager in 2010, following several years as a seasonal freelancer. She assumed the role of Director of Production and Technology in 2011.
As past principal of Virtual Media Production, she produced videos and multi-media projects in the sports, nonprofit and social arenas. She is proficient in a wide range of software and its applications. Marisa has led Event Journal’s technical team in the continual development of its software applications.
Marisa Pollack Kerby oversees Event Journal, Inc.’s production operations, managing a team of graphic designers and web developers and collaborating with the client services team. In addition, she coordinates all A/V and technical requirements to ensure quality control of the company’s suite of customized solutions.
Marisa earned her B.A. from Indiana University and also graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with a degree in Video Production.
In addition, Event Journal, Inc.’s talented in-house staff and extended team includes specialists in client services, business development, graphic design, web development and programming.
